To end off the second school term of 2022, Akasha Shcool and FutureproofSA held a market day to promote entrepreneurship and demonstrate what entrepreneurial skill the kids had learned.
During the course of the term our superhero learners were trained on entrepreneurship. Starting with placing their business ideas into a business model canvas and then working out viability and strategy the kids proceeded to plot, design and build their market day shops.
It was an exciting and energetic morning filled with laughing, learning and a huge amount of pride.
There were a few different businesses ranging from Fly Fishing to video games. We had them compete for the right to continue their business, and the winners were the ones who showed the greatest return on investment after the day.
The winning team named “The Kitchen” owned and run by two of our middle school learners were also awarded R1000.00 as a prize to acknowledge their success due to the use of tools and learning that makes a business successful. They researched, marketed, did proper stock counts and control and were able to successfully complile an “Actual” vs “Theoretical” report, they managed to achieve a 26% return on investment on the day.
